We spent the majority of Day Two cruising Beale Street and exploring Mud Island. We started the day with some stupendous doughnuts at a local doughnut shop, Howard's Donuts, and were introduced to kolache- basically a giant pig in a blanket. Yum! Trip Advisor did not steer us wrong. The girls had some money that was absolutely burning them up so we spent some time in various shops looking for acceptable souvenirs. Our favorite store was the A. Schwab General Store- they sold everything from voodoo spell paraphernalia to Masonic gear and also had a working soda fountain doing a brisk business in phosphates. Mud Iskand was very interesting. The girls enjoyed walking the scale model of the entire Mississippi River and visiting the model riverboat inside the museum. We also stopped at the Peabody to see the march of the ducks. We overextended ourselves, though, and had to come home for a nap! Ready to see some family tomorrow and then head back home.
