The White House: December 2012

Goats!

Donald and I celebrated our 14th anniversary (can you believe it?) at Serenbe and the only picture I took was the one below. Look who greeted us at guest services! These two cuties are only 4 weeks old. At least one of them would have fit into my suitcase to make the trip back to the White House, but Donald assures me that goats are social animals and that to separate them from each other would have been cruel. I tried to convince him that he'd never have to cut the grass again if we had a goat, but he didn't buy it. Enjoy the picture anyway!

Snowmageddon 2012!

The weatherman called for a dusting of snow and we didn't get anything here. But down the road near Mimi and Papa, there was a nice coating of snow and ice! Emily and Abby were fortunate enough to be invited to a snow party. The hosts are owners of The Snow Kings and held a fun (and cold!) party in their backyard. Emily and Abby had a great time with their friend, Selena, building snow forts, making angels, and tossing around snowballs at each other. I'm still hopeful that we will get some more snow at the White House this year but until that happens, they really enjoyed spending a snow day with their friends.

Christmas at the White House

Merry Christmas! The White House Christmas was great and we hope yours was, as well. Emily must have been very good, because she got everything on her list, plus a few extras. She's now strumming around the house on her new acoustic guitar and looking forward to starting lessons in the new year. We've spent lots of time in front of the fire reading great books and watching great movies and are excited to have a bit more vacation time before we head back to school in January. I am ashamed to say that I never got around to sending Christmas cards this year, so please consider this a belated greeting to all of our readers. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
