The Streaker

There's nothing cuter than a naked baby! Emily escaped from her mom (and diaper) and streaked across the living room to check out the action on the patio! She told us that she was just trying to beat the heat. Emily is really getting around now. She's started standing on her own a little and we think she's got two teeth coming in on the top! She's growing up so fast!

Christmas in July

Christmas came early to the White House this year. Emily had a visit from Santa tonight - Santa Don, that is. Emily's grandfather is a member of the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas and just got back from a convention in Branson, Missouri. Imagine - over 200 Santas all in one town! He and Mrs. Claus stopped by for a photo shoot with Emily in his gear; of course, she had to get dressed up for the occasion, too! I can't decide which one of them is better looking!

Summer Fun

Emily recently took her first trip to Starr's Mill, one of our favorite places for picnics. Unfortunately, I was covered in redbugs and Donald was covered in ticks as soon as we unfolded the blanket! We ate our lunch in the back of the car, took a quick walk around the Mill, and then headed back home. Emily had a fun time snacking on her feet on the drive back. Next time, we're packing some serious bug spray - and maybe we'll just go out on our patio! At least we took some photos to document the big day!

Emily's New Toy

Emily has a new toy - the Superyard XT! No, it's not a dog pen (although it does look just like one.) It's a great place for her to roam around and play without us having to worry that she's going to chew through the laptop cord, which she is very fond of attempting. She's trying to pull up and peek over the top - check out the photos!

Easter Bunny Visits the White House

We caught the Easter Bunny in the act...of being extremely cute! Just look at those bunny ears and those bunny eyes and bunny nose. Ok, ok...that wasn't bunny, er...funny! Happy Easter everybody!

It's supposed to be spring!

With all the recent cold weather Emily needed to try on some new hats. Looks like she's ready for a day on the frozen tundra! She also had a suprise for us: her first tooth! Right now its just barely broken through but you can definitely see it. The advent of the new tooth has lead to a string of new faces and new sounds. She's been saying things lately that sound very much like "Da-da" but don't write it down in your baby books yet...she says "Da-da" to everything!

Emily's New Trick

Emily has learned a new trick this week...sticking out her tongue! She can sit like this for long stretches, which is not always a good thing - with the tongue comes lots of drool! We have had to start putting bibs on her again to keep her dry. We figure that she's feeling for a new tooth, which we expect to see any day. We'll keep you up to date when it arrives! Lookin' Sassy

I usually leave this posting business to Donald but today I'm feeling adventurous. This is a photo of Emily taken in her exer-saucer (great gift from Aunt Liz and Grandma Sara) wearing a very sassy velvet hat from her cousin Abby. She loves her exer-saucer now and enjoys trying to fit all of the toys into her mouth at once. And in the interest of broadening her language skills, it is teaching her Spanish while she plays! When she presses different buttons, it speaks the Spanish names of different animals. Lots of fun. She's planning on splitting the atom later this weekend. Add her great fashion sense into this mix and she's a powerhouse!

Christmas at the White House

Emily has been a part of our lives for a full year now. We found out that we were pregnant on Christmas of last year. We thought that finding out we were pregnant was the best Christmas present ever. We were wrong. The best present ever is having Emily here for Christmas! Emily's talents are developing rapidly. Besides being photogenic, Emily is quite the singer. She sings in the morning to wake mom and dad up! Everyday is with Emily is a gift and we know it!

Emilyclaus!

Its hard to believe that it's been over 3 months since Miss Emily blessed the White House. Her first Christmas is just around the corner and she is ready! The hat is a gift from some of Dad's friends from work. It came with a matching pink stocking which is now hung on the mantle. Having Emily in the house is like Christmas everyday. She's always got little gifts to give us (sometimes they're the gifts that keep on giving-if you know what I mean). Happy Holidays!

I know...I know...its been a while.

We have really great excuses for why we haven't posted in a while but you're not interested in them I'm sure. Anyway, this picture is of Emily getting ready first trip to a soccer game. Dad was playing. Mom was cheerleading. And Emily was ready for fun in the sun! Dad's team won by the way. After the game, we celebrated by going to the Varsity. Emily was upset that she could not partake in those greasy delights but she settled for a bottle and nap. We're going to try our hand at movie making. We hope to have a video up soon!

Boo Boo Bands

Yes, that is our little girl's leg. And, yes, that is one horrible looking Dr.'s office band-aid (or boo boo band as Abby calls them). Emily went for her 2 month check up today. Included in her all expense paid trip to Dr. Warren's office, she received a thorough check up and 3 SHOTS!!! Mom and Dad almost fainted when we saw those needles. I think that the shots were actually rougher on us than on Emily. She is definitely Amanda's child because she didn't pass out or turn green or anything like that. She fussed a little bit but it was nothing a bottle couldn't handle. For those of you keeping score at home, Emily is now 11 pounds 13 ounces. That puts her in the 75th percentile of all babies weight-wise (that means only 25% of the babies weigh more than she does at the same age). She's 24 inches long-95 percentile! (That means...nevermind...you know what that means). She's already an overachiever! She's been immunized against 8 different diseases and has been pronounced a beautiful baby by the Dr.'s entire staff. All in all, a pretty good day. Could have done without the shots but a girl's gotta do what girls gotta do.

Halloween Visitors

Minnie Mouse and Wilbur the Pig came by for a Halloween visit! The part of Wilbur was played by McKinley Gore and the part of Minnie Mouse was played by the incomparable Abby Williams! Sorry for the blurry picture...too much Halloween candy!

Veggie Tales

Here she is...the princess in the pea! The costume only lasted about 15 minutes which works out to about $1 a minute. In my opinion it was worth every penny! She didn't do any trick-or-treating but she did pretty well for her first Halloween. Today is also her 2 month birthday. Time is really flying. She's growing like a...pea!

For our family and friends...

Its hard to believe that Emily is almost 2 months old! She's been growing and growing and growing. We want everyone to be able to keep up with how the White family is doing so we've started this blog. We'll have pictures and, eventually, video. We hope that we might be able to share our joy over the internet! Look out world...Emily is now in cyberspace! For those of you into stats, Emily is now over 10 lbs and has to be at least 2 feet long. She's sleeping through the night and has been since she was 3 weeks old (yes, I know how lucky we are!). She eats like her father and has all of her mom's personality. She's got a little hair growing around the back. We haven't decided what color it is yet but we'll keep you posted. Check back here soon. No telling what we'll have for you!

My favorite pic...so far

I am becoming addicted to
taking pictures of Emily...eating, sleeping, taking a bath, staring at the ceiling fan, etc. However, Donald took this picture of the two of us sleeping on the couch a few days after we came home from the hospital and it is my favorite so far. Someone actually accused us of showing off the fake baby picture that comes with a picture frame when we showed off this picture!
