Emily in the garden

Whew! Schools out and we're just now able to take a break for a little while. We spent most of Saturday in the garden planting flowers and generally having fun. Emily, of course, is always insterested in what we're up to. She loves to play in the water and apparently to drink from the hose! This was a great day!

Emily's 1st Beach Trip

Amanda, Emily, and I took a trip over spring break to Orange Beach, AL with our friends Amy and Lane. It was Emily's 1st trip to the beach and also our first road trip with an 18 month old! We couldn't have asked for a better trip. Fun, sun, and baby!

Thanksgiving at the White House

I know, I know...its been almost 4 months since our last post. We've been so busy with school and work that we haven't had a chance to post. We promise to post more especially over the holidays. Having said that, here's a couple of holiday posts that you might enjoy. Emily has really started walking in the past week. She walks now more than she crawls. She's talking a lot but no real words yet. I'm sure they're coming soon and then we won't be able to keep her quiet! Emily loves the stairs and she heads straight for them anytime she gets a chance. She's wearing her Thanksgiving outfit and showing off for the crowd. Happy Thanksgiving!

Emily's 1st Birthday Party

Yes, we know that her birthday is not until Thursday but we couldn't wait! Our little girl is getting so big! Over 50 people attended her birthday bash. She hauled in some major presents, too! You're sure to see some of her favorites in future pictures. Thanks to everyone who attended and who wanted to attend! We've had a great first year thanks to all of you. And, of course, thanks to Emily! The pictures are of the birthday girl in her birthday hat. The birthday girl playing with her favorite gift...tissue paper. The birthday girl and her cake. The Streaker

There's nothing cuter than a naked baby! Emily escaped from her mom (and diaper) and streaked across the living room to check out the action on the patio! She told us that she was just trying to beat the heat. Emily is really getting around now. She's started standing on her own a little and we think she's got two teeth coming in on the top! She's growing up so fast!

Christmas in July

Christmas came early to the White House this year. Emily had a visit from Santa tonight - Santa Don, that is. Emily's grandfather is a member of the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas and just got back from a convention in Branson, Missouri. Imagine - over 200 Santas all in one town! He and Mrs. Claus stopped by for a photo shoot with Emily in his gear; of course, she had to get dressed up for the occasion, too! I can't decide which one of them is better looking!

Summer Fun

Emily recently took her first trip to Starr's Mill, one of our favorite places for picnics. Unfortunately, I was covered in redbugs and Donald was covered in ticks as soon as we unfolded the blanket! We ate our lunch in the back of the car, took a quick walk around the Mill, and then headed back home. Emily had a fun time snacking on her feet on the drive back. Next time, we're packing some serious bug spray - and maybe we'll just go out on our patio! At least we took some photos to document the big day!

Emily's New Toy

Emily has a new toy - the Superyard XT! No, it's not a dog pen (although it does look just like one.) It's a great place for her to roam around and play without us having to worry that she's going to chew through the laptop cord, which she is very fond of attempting. She's trying to pull up and peek over the top - check out the photos!

Easter Bunny Visits the White House

We caught the Easter Bunny in the act...of being extremely cute! Just look at those bunny ears and those bunny eyes and bunny nose. Ok, ok...that wasn't bunny, er...funny! Happy Easter everybody!

It's supposed to be spring!

With all the recent cold weather Emily needed to try on some new hats. Looks like she's ready for a day on the frozen tundra! She also had a suprise for us: her first tooth! Right now its just barely broken through but you can definitely see it. The advent of the new tooth has lead to a string of new faces and new sounds. She's been saying things lately that sound very much like "Da-da" but don't write it down in your baby books yet...she says "Da-da" to everything!

Emily's New Trick

Emily has learned a new trick this week...sticking out her tongue! She can sit like this for long stretches, which is not always a good thing - with the tongue comes lots of drool! We have had to start putting bibs on her again to keep her dry. We figure that she's feeling for a new tooth, which we expect to see any day. We'll keep you up to date when it arrives!
